The driving here is crazy! Parisians take to the streets like as if on a racetrack, zooming by and weaving through traffic with disregard to any road lines (and in some cases there are no road lines). We have been passengers in a car on the streets of Paris, which is an experience in itself, but being a pedestrian is almost as harrowing! We have learned that you must be aggressive, yet cautious. And always look both ways when crossing the street, even when permitted to cross with the green walking man, as vehicle traffic does not always yield to pedestrians!
The cars here are very different than what we’re used to seeing in the States where 4-door sedans and SUVs are the norm. Small cars are commonplace in Paris. And when I say small, I mean tiny! Check out this Smart Car which is very popular here in the city.

We soon found out why small cars are needed here – parking is at a premium. And, as our welcome package clearly stated “Parisians are as versatile, skilled and creative a population as you could hope to meet. As proof just look at some of the parking!” We agree!
