We had a pretty low-key weekend. Not too much going on. Probably one of the most exciting things happened on Friday night. It was around 11pm and we were in bed reading (a book for me and a newspaper for Pehr) when we heard a noise. I said “What’s that?” and Pehr said “It sounds like someone’s trying to get into the apartment”. This has happened a few times before as well. We are in what’s called an Aparhotel, so it’s for short and long term stays. In our particular building, it seems there are a lot of tourists just in for the weekend or week. Anyway, to “check in” you have to enter a code into a key box which just so happens to be located right near our door. Then sometimes when people see their apartment number is #01, we think they don’t realize which floor they’re on and just assume that our apartment is their room. Well, like I said this has happened a few other times, but never this late at night. They were working on the lock pretty well and it seemed like any second the door was going to open (although impossible)! I kicked Pehr out of bed, in only his boxers, to go check things out. There isn’t a peep hole on our door, which really stinks! Anyway, Pehr goes to the door and says “Pardon. Non, non, non!” Then they left. He came back into the bedroom and we were saying things like “How annoying!” and “What a bunch of idiots!” I know, not very nice…but we were mad! Then we went back to our reading and a few minutes later we just started cracking up laughing and just kept repeating “Pardon. Non, non, non!” in a fake French accent and shaking our finger. I said, “Wow you really showed them who’s boss, huh, tough guy?!?!” It was so funny! He was so polite to the would-be (could’ve-been) burglars! Even as I write this I can’t stop laughing. Maybe you had to be there, but we got a kick out of it all weekend!!! LOL!
Then on Saturday we met up with some other English-speaking parents at a park. It was another cold day, but it was nice to meet new people with young children. There were a few others from the US, some from the UK, one from Singapore and one from Germany. We had a good time and Ryne enjoyed crawling around in the big sandbox that they had there. His toys that we brought to the park were a big hit too and all of the little kids (even the French kids who weren’t part of our group) played with them.
The rest of the weekend we just hung out at home and went on a couple of walks during breaks in the weather. Ryne is getting good at pulling himself up on things (and getting into everything) and even uses his knees to crawl every now and then. But, mostly he army crawls since it’s faster. So we worked with him a lot on standing and pulling himself up. Just a nice family weekend!
My brother comes to Paris this upcoming weekend and we are so excited! Our first visitor! He doesn’t want to do too many touristy things…just mostly wants to check out the culture, so it should be a fun time! Can’t wait!
