Farm and Maple Sugaring

Saturday we took a trip to a local farm to check out the Maple Sugaring process. After getting a little lost (even with GPS) and almost getting the car stuck on a muddy, unmaintained dirt road, we made it to the farm. There were ducks, chickens, hens, a rooster and (killer) geese! There were goats and a miniature horse. Ryne was so excited on the car ride to the farm, saying "animals" over and over again, but then he couldn't care less about the animals once we arrived. I think the killer geese (notice the sign that says they're surrounded by an electric fence) scared him and then he just wanted to stay away.

Instead, his favorite part of the farm was (of course) collecting rocks! In fact, he even got a little girl there to follow in the fun and he proceeded to tell her "good one" when she found one!

It was interesting to learn a little about the maple sugaring process. It takes about 1 day for the buckets to fill, and the sap only flows when temps are above freezing during the day, but below freezing at night.
